FakeMessage.app ("we", "us") is a free tool for making fictional chat screenshots and videos. This page explains what information we handle when you use the site and what you can do about it. The short version: the chats you make stay in your browser, and if you sign in we keep only the basic details Google shares with us.
The chats you make
- Your script, images, sounds and voiceover are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
- Your script and editor settings are saved in your browser's local storage so they are still there next time. You can clear them by clearing your browser data for this site.
- If your script contains a link to an image on another website, our server fetches that image once so it can be shown in your chat. We don't keep a copy.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional. It unlocks video export and all-message image downloads. When you sign in, Google shares with us:
- your email address,
- your name and profile photo, and
- a Google account ID, plus the dates you signed up and last signed in.
We use this only to keep you signed in, unlock features and contact you about your account if we need to. We don't sell it, rent it or share it with advertisers. We never see your Google password.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records basic request information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the site running and secure, and is kept only for a short time.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to save your work and, if you sign in, to keep your session. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies today. If we add analytics or ads in the future (for example Google AdSense), those providers may use cookies, and we'll update this page before that happens.
Who helps us run the site
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Supabase stores sign-in accounts.
- Google provides "Continue with Google" sign-in.
They process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms, and may store it outside your country.
How long we keep it
We keep your account details until you ask us to delete your account. Hosting logs are deleted automatically after a short period.
Your choices and rights
- You can use the editor and save screenshots without signing in.
- You can ask for a copy of your account data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account at any time.
- You can also remove FakeMessage.app from your Google account's third-party connections in your Google account settings.
To make a request, email fakemessage.support@gmail.com from the address you signed in with. We aim to reply within 30 days.
Children
FakeMessage.app is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has signed in, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
